Education Center Construction
Week of
June 23, 2002

Monday, June 24 -- With all the modular
buildings removed, a large empty space
has been opened up.
Work on the gym floor begins. Black rubber
cushions are attached to the plywood sheets.
The plywood will be placed on the concrete,
cushion side down. Another layer of plywood on
top of that, followed by the hardwood flooring.
A pressure regulation pump needs to be
installed here for the water supply system.
Local water pressure varies too much to
meet fire codes. The pump will maintain
pressure within the necessary range.
Surveyors have placed stakes to mark areas for
concrete work as landscape work continues.
Tuesday, June 25 -- Gym floor work continues.
A plastic moisture barrier is placed on the
concrete, then the cushioned plywood layer.
You can see the second layer of plywood—
placed diagonally on top of the first layer—
on the left side of the photo.
Detail paint work begins on the outside of the
building. The white finish coats will clean up
the edges of the detail work.
Work continues on the back of the property
to add curb, gutter, and landscaping.
