Sow bugs are found under logs, flower pots, moist leaf litter, or where it is moist and shady.

Interesting Facts
Sow bugs breathe with gills, so they can not go through areas with high humidity. They love being under rocks or logsand in wet soil under shade. They roll up into a ball when disturbed. They eat dead or decaying plants or animals. Females could carry up to 100 eggs in its pouch. Molting is in two stages. First the back half molts, then two to three days later, the front half molts. Coloration of both halves may be different at this time.

The Sow Bug and CLHS

Sow bugs have been found on our campus. You can find them under rocks that are on top of wet soil. Sow bugs are also found in the crevices of the concrete and grass.
