Natural Range
The barn owl is found on all continents other than Antarctica. It is pure white on its underside (on their stomach and under their wings). In centeral Europe they are orange. Click here to see a distribution map of the barn owl.

Interesting Facts
The Barn Owl has a body length of 14 - 20 inches, a 3 1/2 foot wingspan, and weighs 8 - 21 ounces. Barn owl measurements vary greatly throughout the world. They mainly eat small mammals, but they will hunt birds, fish, reptiles, and insects.

The Barn Owl and CLHS

Though rarely seen. There are many barn owls in the area around CLHS. Rabbits and ground squirrels on our campus are ideal prey for this predator.
