The Mallard and CLHS
The mallard duck can be found in any of the ponds, lakes, or rivers around
our school. In one particularly rainy season, our football field became a
pond that attracted some mallards!

Natural Range
The mallard lives
in most of the temporate and sub-tropical areas of the world. It breeds
in the north during the summer, then flies south
and spends the winter in the southern areas.
Interesting Facts
Mallards
are about 23 inches long and 2 to 3 pounds. In the summer, male mallards
have a distinctive green head with a white neck ring, while females have
duller brown fleathers with black dots. They live on three
different continents.
