Interesting Facts
Mockingbirds were given their name because of the way they mimic other birds and mechanical noises. In fact, their Latin scientific name Mimus Polyglotttos means many-toungued mimic. Mockingbirds are most heard on moon-lit spring nights. Mockingbirds are very territorial. They will attack anything that enters into their territoy or anything they feel is a threat to them. They even mistakenly attack their own reflections at times.
