Interesting Facts
The Red Shouldered Hawk has a body length of
15-19 inches and a wingspan of 3-3 1/2 feet. They mostly feed on small animals
or reptiles that they usually see from flight. In other parts of the world
they refered to this bird as a buzzard and then later mistakened it
as a vulture because of that name. Some people say the counter part of the
red tailed hawk is the Barred Owl.

The Red Shouldered Hawk and CLHS
The Red Shouldered Hawk can be seen around campus
on occasion, or if you are looking for it. Even though its red shoulders
give it away, it is hard to notice what bird it is from the ground with the
naked eye. When searching for this spectacular bird you will need to be patient,
and know when you should look for it, also you should keep a pair of binoculars
handy.
