This squirrel is found on the
west coast from the southern tip of California all the way into some regions

Interesting Facts
This squirrel has been known to live as long
as six years in the wild but the longest ever recorded was in captivity and
it lived for ten years. The average life for a ground squirrel has been about
three to four years.

The California Ground Squirrels are frequently seen
on our campus. The mostly live off the campus in the fields or the ditch
just next to the
school.
When
they
do make their home on campus,
the are exterminated due to the damage they do to our landscaping.
